As a child in London, I had an unfortunate habit of winning natural-history prizes and taking notes on things other people preferred not to touch. For a time, this suggested a career in marine biology — a dream interrupted on a trip to Cornwall before my first year at Oxford.
These days, from my study above Hamilton Harbour, I follow sharks, attacks, near misses, extraordinary cats, and the people who insist on filming all of them.
